A boxed collection of works by twelve artists invited to respond to The Golden Bough by James George Frazer as a metaphor for the museum. Multifarious works resulted, bound by a common ambition to shift our understanding of what artwork can be.
This boxed collection of works by Dorothy Cross, Brian Duggan, Katie Holten, Ronnie Hughes, Niamh McCann, William McKeown, Gavin Murphy, Garret Phelan, Tim Robinson, Seán Shanahan, Corban Walker and Grace Weir is prefaced by a pamphlet outlining the way Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane has invited these artists to assess the museum, its development and their part in it as it serves this country. The spread of time over which each of these artists presented their work in The Golden Bough epitomises the nature of museum as archive and process.
