20000km is a long term project that highlights the development and the evolution of the roads in Italy; yet this work is also about the Italian territory and the preservation of the landscape. It is a journey through time along the Italian roads of yesterday and today: a neo-realistic study into the building speculation tactics of the 70s, a cultural odyssey into the natural heritage and an excursion into the Italy of arrangements and unfinished works.
20000km is also a reflection on the theme of travel: it aims to be in essence a poetic work of evocative images. By using different cameras, it wishes to transmit the complexity of the ever-changing landscape: here the ancient roman roads merge together with the new Italian landscape.
