Walter Niedermayr (born 1952 in Bolzano, Italy) is a notable European photographer in our time, with his sensitive visual language marked by its subtle blend of colours. Niedermayr become familiar to a larger public through his series on Alpine landscapes, architecture, and infrastructures.
For this project, he traveled between 2005 and 2008 to Teheran, Isfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, and other smaller cities and historical sites in Iran. His excursions led to the creation of a new group of works in which he examines various aspects of contemporary Iranian architecture in their cultural and historical context. Like Niedermayr’s previous books, this project, which the artist developed in close collaboration with the graphic designers and the publisher, will certainly prove to be a treat.
